My work is built on the unconscious ways we absorb our experiences and environments around us. These images become short stories to the mundane, yet vital, rituals we all take part in. In my art, and in my life, I am constantly trying to find a middle ground, a place that feels content with all the in-betweeness in life. The images are usually depicting a relationship with myself and the separate one I have with everything else. Behind the faces, are the thoughts that replay themselves...the constant figuring out, the settling then unsettling whispers. My subjects are caught in that awkward moment. I acknowledge the awkwardness that exist in life and I show how it is intriguing.
My work often has secret shimmers layed across the surfaces. In the right light the foreground or even hair detail might actually shine. Its meant to be pushed a step above my usual delicate builds of color. It grabs your attention like the surprise you feel when you catch your reflection in an unknown surface nearby. These illustrations are the expectations, the dreams, the playfulness, the unconscious paranoia, and the familiarity it all makes when its all combined.

Five days in the car and close to 3,000 miles later we have arrived in Portland, Oregon. I love it here and look forward to many years in the Pacific Northwest.
