So when I was little I use to love watching dancers on tv. I would watch that star search show every Saturday and would only pay attention to the dancers. I use to rewind the little dance part on Annie the movie, along with the “so long farewell” dance on Sound of Music. Oh yeah, and there was that dance scene in that movie “dream a little dream” it was sort of Michael Jackson-ish. Singing in the Rain…Pretty much any movie that has a dance scene it..I have secretly watched it over and over again. Keep in mind we didn’t have cable my entire childhood…so I had no access to MTV or any movies or shows that recently had come out. It was mainly PBS or TBS for me…
I use to tell my friends that I wanted to carry a boom box and walk into a public place and do a crazy choreographed dance with friends, right there out of no where. Then we could pick up the boom box and walk away like normal.
I took some dance classes in college…but unfortnately I was way to insecure to enjoy the class as much I should have. Insecurities…they get in the way of everything.
I’ve been thinking about dance a lot lately. The movement of the body, the understanding it takes to control and balance yourself, and at the same time staying fluid. Its beautiful. So I’ve decided before I get too old I want to take some dance classes again. I think it would be good for my soul and for my art.
The art is up and ready for the opening, thanks to Matt and Laura’s help!
Laura and I spent the rest of the day hanging flyers and looking at all the cute shops I can’t afford anything at! But I did finally go in a teeny shop called “special”. I saw the best flapper-esque necklace. It would be mine if $68 fell magically from the sky. Laura bought a fancy headband for only $30 though. Most of Heather’s, the owner and designer, jewelry is affordable though. check her out!!
Plans:
-make recipes templates and print them out
-start cataloging them, maybe even take more photo
-try to market my etsy store…i need more money man
-start sewing little creatures again
-make some music
-start this darn collaboration with all the artist I have talked to
Wishes:
-for someone to commission me to do a piece
-to do a magazine illustration
-to sell some work at the upcoming show
So if you haven’t come out to Last Thursday in a while, you should! I bet this warmer spring weather will bring everyone out! Right around the corner from Ne Alberta on Ne 30th is a fairly new hair salon and gallery called Studio Thirty! Kristenlee, the owner, is throwing a bash to showcase my art and feature some cool boutiques! Her husband, a superb chef, will be fixing up some yummy food! I hope to see you there!!
Just added a blog to my site, get the RSS feed to keep updated!
