Thanksgiving YUMMINESS!
val sarajane jill

We had a fantastic time in Seattle! Lots of yummy food and plenty of hanging and relaxing! My pies were a great success! I ended up baking some more surprise desserts for Matt’s cousins(Emma and Helen). They had birthdays last week. I baked Helen mini cheesecakes and Emma a cookie cake! I think everyone had enough sugar to fill a swimming pool! but oh well, thats what the holidays are about sometimes…ha!

I also got to see some old Flying Biscuit girls! So fun! Sarajane’s little girl, Miette, is a freakin’ cutie!

Now I have to get back to reality and finish up these portraits. Matt leaves for California today. I have the house to myself until I fly to LA on Friday! YAY! Too bad I gotta clean a bit, since we were gone all weekend and the dishwasher is broken……..BLEH!

BYE!

Oh me oh my!

So many exciting and fun happenings through the next 3 months!

these bookshelves are filled with the same stories.

you know,
there are things in life,
that are almost there.
but they feel underworked, incomplete.
Do some things stay almost there, forever?
I want to get there.
maybe even pass my comprehension of what there is.

There there little one.

morning work

hello Monday.
I sent the pieces on Saturday off to LA. Hope they arrive safely! Now that I’m done with that…gotta get caught up on some other stuff!

A couple of going away parties this weekend for friends. We only made it to one though. This early darkness makes us not want to leave the house!
Kimberly and Ryan will be leaving in like 9 days to go to Amsterdam for a month and then to Thailand for 3 months!! It just makes the craving to travel for Matt and I so much more apparent! Unfortunately, we gotta get caught up and save some mooolah before that can happen again! But the party was real chill and a lot of fun!
Ryan took a ton of polaroid portraits of everyone. We forgot ours though! Hopefully I’ll see Kim this Wednesday for a better goodbye!

Check out Ryan’s website! Tons of great stuff…plus his travels to Thailand will be documented sooner or later! Can’t wait!! Happy Travels for you both!

robot tic tacs

This post is a birthday tribute to my sister. A few wacky recollections of what she was like growing up.

Lets see…
-She wouldn’t even sit at the dinner table if there was a newspaper anywhere near her. She had a thing with smells and couldn’t be around it!
-She was terrified of the drive thru car washing machines.
-She also hated the smell of gasoline and would cover he nose and sulk the whole time at the gas station.
-We once dared her to take a bite out of a stick of butter…and she just put some salt on it and acted like it was a banana.
-She also use to melt cheese in the microwave and eat it as a snack. (but i think i did that too)
-She fell in love with my baby bubbles, and when we got her one, she still preferred mine.
-She made me bleed more times than I made her. Once randomly biting me when we were cleaning up legos. I just bent over and I guess she didn’t like it. and WHAM! She also through a metal musical toy at my face and gave me a fat lip.
-She pooped on my leg. yep. for real.
-I told her she was adopted like a million times when we were growing up. I forgot the family name I gave her! I bet she remembers.
-In the car, my friends and I would tell her we had magic pills that would shrink us, but out bodies would be a robot version of ourselves. They were just tic tacs. And we would start it out by saying “I am Valerie robot…”

oh lordy.

HAPPY BRITHDAY!!

swimming puddle vibrations

So thanks to Sarah Karp for opening my world up to Colleen and her viola da gamba. I want one of those instruments more than anything right now! Perhaps one of these days $3,000 will fall in my pocket. right…

Matt and I went to see Broadcast, and two bands we knew back home from Atlanta, The Selmanaires and Atlas Sound. I was so impressed by both of their performances. The Selmanaires have really changed their sound, but are still sticking to those familiar melodies and harmonizing I love so much. I really like the vintage sort of electro sounds that accompany their songs now! They played with Bradford Cox as his backing band for Atlas Sound. Apparently they have been learning the songs on the road. It was beautiful. His music has also matured a ton! Listening to it , I kept envisioning girls diving in water, followed by skipping stones, with giant puddles jumps thrown in. So I guess his music sounds like water to me. interesting…

Anyway, it was a great show…except for poor poor Broadcast (which was the reason we went). This was my forth time seeing them through the years…and unfortunately it seems Patricia has decided to become bit more experimental. Influenced possibly by The United States of America or other 70’s bands like that…but it just sounded really boring and uninspired. The songs that I normally loved were lacking energy. We left early because I didn’t want to ruin my past memories of their music.

I’m going to try and mail my pieces for the LA show by the end of this week! Then I gotta get caught up on some other work! and somehow we have to get my plane ticket! eek!
