swimming puddle vibrations

So thanks to Sarah Karp for opening my world up to Colleen and her viola da gamba. I want one of those instruments more than anything right now! Perhaps one of these days $3,000 will fall in my pocket. right…
Matt and I went to see Broadcast, and two bands we knew back home from Atlanta, The Selmanaires and Atlas Sound. I was so impressed by both of their performances. The Selmanaires have really changed their sound, but are still sticking to those familiar melodies and harmonizing I love so much. I really like the vintage sort of electro sounds that accompany their songs now! They played with Bradford Cox as his backing band for Atlas Sound. Apparently they have been learning the songs on the road. It was beautiful. His music has also matured a ton! Listening to it , I kept envisioning girls diving in water, followed by skipping stones, with giant puddles jumps thrown in. So I guess his music sounds like water to me. interesting…
Anyway, it was a great show…except for poor poor Broadcast (which was the reason we went). This was my forth time seeing them through the years…and unfortunately it seems Patricia has decided to become bit more experimental. Influenced possibly by The United States of America or other 70’s bands like that…but it just sounded really boring and uninspired. The songs that I normally loved were lacking energy. We left early because I didn’t want to ruin my past memories of their music.
I’m going to try and mail my pieces for the LA show by the end of this week! Then I gotta get caught up on some other work! and somehow we have to get my plane ticket! eek!
