Pumped!

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

I got be apart of this super rad magazine in Alberta, Canada! (UPPERCASE) Such a cute spread! Mine is the second image from the top. Once I get it in the mail I might just post a closer image!

The rain has been pouring for sometime now. Seems its raining everywhere though. Tomorrow its suppose to be nice…fingers crossed. I need a little light.

Getting excited about visiting the SE in May! We are going to a wedding in Memphis, TN and then off to do our family, friends visiting tour. This time we won’t have to visit every single state. Oh man, that was tiring. Matt’s family is visiting us in Alabama…and then our friends and family are in Georgia. I can’t wait to eat real Mexican food. Cheese dip…oh how I miss thee.

Also, I have another show in the works coming up in June. More to be announced soon!

which I call my brain sometimes. My head is full of cluttered ideas! As I filter through them I’m going to keep trying new techniques and work on producing a clearer image of what is in my HEAD/BRAIN/ATTIC-heart?

are you ready?
yeah.
then do it.
now?
yes, are we really still standing here?

hangin with the girls tonight again!

Friday, March 19th, 2010

So I won’t home tonight! Which is great, cause Emma(my cat) is driving me crazy! I let her outside once lately and ever since then she’s be screaming at me to go outside. no really, if you’ve met her you understand the dynamic of her craziness.

ok, so I baked a bit extra this week thus far..

I just can’t stop baking! and now that I’ve found out that making bread isn’t really a mystery at all…there is no going back. I baked brioche burger buns last night. We’ve been only buying food with ingredients we recognize for awhile now. But the bakery made buns and breads are soooooo expensive! $6 for burger buns is hard to cough up…so I found a recipe and tried it out. They turned out perfect! Very few ingredients made 5. I do need a bigger pan because they ended up touching! But thats my only complaint!

Recipe for the best buns!

I also made healthier pumpkin muffins this morning at 6:30am because Matt needs some better breakfast options. And because I’n always awake that early anyway. seriously, I can’t sleep passed 6:45am EVER!

sunday pizza night

After a trip to the poor house (my house all week), I think we recovered a pretty good weekend. I worked a few hours at Nationale on Sunday and got to smell the scents of olo wafting through the shop! I think I might have to buy the nationale scented one! I’m not a perfume kinda girl…but these little lovelies are soft and quite appealing!

Then I went home and made some pizza crust again! This one was really easy! Why was I not doing this before?? Its so much cheaper and tastier than buying pre-made dough or crusts! Seriously. Try this recipe from smitten kitchen! Oh yeah and I made the super fudgey brownies from King Arthurs flour recipe! I think next time around I will buy some high quality cocoa, because the hershey’s dark cocoa makes brownies so dark a pirate’s cavity would be jealous.

Matt and I are off coffee during the week. We treat ourselves to espresso’s on the weekends…but its better on the wallet, teeth, and keeps a clearer head. But I miss the ritual of waking up and making it. Tea for me now though.

now, back to the drawing board.

smells like buttery crust in here

(warning: camera suck-tastic)

I’m baking up some goodness for girl’s night tonight! I’ve never made millionaire shortbread before! But it looks and sounds delicious! I’m halving the recipe though. RECIPE

One of those recipes you to have cool, layer, chill, layer, chill…..but usually those are the BEST!

Before the artwalk last night we went to Clyde Common for happy hour! Delicious!!

The influence project turned out nicely! I got to see a piece that I started and it was passed to two other artists. The styles surprisingly matched in a surrealist sort of way. Hopefully she will post them on the gallery blog soon.

First Friday is tonight! Another art walk in a different area! Two new spaces opened up and I have prints at one and soon to be originals at the other! I talked to May about interning at nationale. Since its impossible for me to get a part time job right now, I figure It would be nice to get more involved in art galleries. Its volunteer mostly, but I’ll be able to put it on my resume and connect with other artists. She said I can still draw while I work, so win win win!
Perhaps the universe is giving me a little lift!

heart heart heart.

Feeling Springy these days…

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

The past weekend was fantastically wonderful! Hanging with friends, long walks, triple chocolate ice cream, and lots of giggling.

vietnamese shrimp bowl spread

I’ve made some pretty decent vietnamese inspired bowls…but this one was the best! Fairly simple to make, lots of herb chopping! The only annoying part is deveining the shrimp…ewww!

So its First Thursday this week! Matt and I were apart of a show called “Influence”. Like I mentioned before, it was based on the idea that people are influenced by each other in different social networks. I had to start two pieces and pass it along. You can pass it to one or as many people as you want. You can spend a little time or a lot of time on it. Matt and I did one together and the other may have been passed to a bunch of people. I have no idea what it will look like! The wall of the gallery will be filled with artists working on other artists work. Can’t wait to see them all together!

Influence

This is the one that Matt and I did. It is a little hard to see because our digital camera really sucks! But Matt did soft metallic pencil designs around my ink/gouache girl and animals.

I had too much coffeeeee today! I need to calm my heart now and start on the worky.
